Bio

Olívia Pestana holds a PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, in partnership with the University of Aveiro. She also holds a Master in Information Management from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, a Specialization Diploma in Documentation Sciences (Option Documentation and Library) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, and a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures (Portuguese and German Studies) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto.
She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, since 2013, in the Department of Communication and Information Sciences. She is a researcher at CITCEM (Transdisciplinary Culture, Space and Memory Research Centre) and CLUP (Centre of Linguistics of the University of Porto).
Her current interests are focused on knowledge organization systems, content analysis and subject indexing in various domains; on the production, organization and use of information, and focused on graduate and post-graduate training in Information Science, especially in information and knowledge organization.
