Prior to coming to ASIS&T, Ms. Nash worked for the American Psychiatric Association (a nonprofit medical association) from 1979-2018. She worked in a variety of roles on the Annual Meeting, including serving as the Director of the Meetings Department and Conventions Department from 2001 until February 2018.

She and her staff were responsible for the logistical planning of all APA meetings (over 50 per year), with the Annual Meeting being the largest.  She developed and administered the planning and implementation of all logistical, administrative, and financial aspects of the Annual Meeting and the Institute on Psychiatric Services (IPS), including all aspects of registration, housing, and exhibits, including assisting with marketing and sponsorships. She was responsible for developing and maintaining meeting budgets of more than 10 million dollars. 

 The Annual Meeting attendance averaged 13,000. The largest meeting, in 2004, was attended by over 26,000.  There were approximately 500 scientific sessions presented during the five-day meeting. She was responsible for the site selection and contracting for the meeting with an average of 6,000 peak night sleeping rooms, 325,000 gross sq. ft. of exhibit space, and over 200 APA and affiliate meetings.  

She is an excellent public speaker and has created and taught a course on “How to Survive the Annual Meeting” for the APA and has participated on panels at PCMA Annual Meetings.  She has served on Customer Advisory Boards for San Francisco (2007-2009 and 2018), Philadelphia (2006-2009), New Orleans (2007-2009), Boston (2009-2011). Her passion is using her 38 years of expertise to facilitate discussions with planners, suppliers and convention cities.

She has handled the logistics and secret service arrangements for Vice President Biden (2014), President Bill Clinton (2013),  Tipper Gore (1993 and 1994), and former First Lady Rosalyn Carter (1985, 1993, 1999, and 2016).  She has also handled the special arrangements for celebrities and Congressman such as Senator Edward Kennedy (1992), Edward Kennedy, Jr. (2012), The Honorable Patrick Kennedy (2013 and 2014); Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Carrie Fisher, Suzanne Somers, Art Buchwald, Tom Wolfe, Bill Cosby, and Alan Alda.  

Ms. Nash earned her CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) in 2004.  She has been a member of  PCMA (Professional Convention Managers Association) since 1984.
