It almost seems today that I was actually born for library and information science. I began as an English major, earning two degrees in that field. During my master's program in English I spent countless hours in the library, observing the services offered by expert librarians, learning the organizational structure, and exploring the sources that led to becoming informed. It became clear that this was the life for me. I worked several years as an academic librarians, but knew that I wanted to prepare people for a brave new world of information. I've been on the faculties of the University of Arizona, Louisiana State University, and the University of Missouri, from which I am now retired. I am something of a movie nut and read mysteries avidly.
