Bio

I have been a faculty member in the iSchool, University of Sheffield since 2000. 1992-2000 I was a faculty member in the (then) Information Science department at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to that I worked for the British Library, latterly as Head of their Business Information Service.
My key interests are information literacy, information behaviour, qualitative research methods (particularly phenomenography and autoethnography), and the virtual world, Second Life (where I'm Sheila Yoshikawa and lead organiser for the Virtual Worlds Education Roundtable). I am Director of the Centre for Information Literacy Research, head of the iSchool's Libraries and Information Society Research Group and coordinate the MA in Library and Information Services Management programme.
I have served on committees for various professional associations (e.g. IFLA, CILIP, Institute of Information Scientists). I was chair of the ASIS&T European Chapter about 20 years ago ;-)
