    About the webinar:
    Professors Ford and Wilson will debate the meaning of theory in Information Behaviour. Questions may include: What is theory? What theories are there in Information Behaviour? Does the field draw on theories from other disciplines? How influential are Information Behaviour and Information Science theories?
    All ASIS&T members are welcome to come along, to listen and to join in the debate! The session will be chaired by Sheila Webber, Chair of ASIS&T European Chapter and Senior Lecturer in the Information School, University of Sheffield, UK.

    About Professor Wilson:
    Professor Tom Wilson has made significant contributions to information research. In 2000 he was the recipient of the ASIS&T SIG USE Award for "outstanding contributions to information behavior", and he has received ASIS&T's Award of Merit (2017), recognising sustained contributions to the field of information science, and the Jason Farradane Award (2020). He is Professor Emeritus in the University of Sheffield Information School (where he was Head of Department from 1982 to 1997). Since retiring, Professor Wilson has been Visiting Professor at Leeds University Business School, Professor Catedratico Convidado at the University of Porto, and Senior Professor at the University of Borås, Sweden. His 2021 book Exploring information behaviour: an introduction is available on the Information Research journal website http://tinyurl.com/ztk4etc as a free EPUB or PDF file.
    About Professor Ford:
    Professor Nigel Ford is Professor Emeritus in the University of Sheffield Information School, UK (where his roles included Director of Research and Head of the Educational Informatics Research Group). His publications include Introduction to Information Behaviour (Facet Publications, 2015). Projects he has led include the AHRC-funded projects Developing Deep Critical Information Behaviour and Developing effective Web-based information seeking for inquiry-based learning.
